As many of you know, here at RiverBlue we are very passionate about sustaining our environment. We truly believe that the little decisions you make day to day can have a positive impact on our environment. An organization called ‘1% for the Planet’ (onepercentfortheplanet.org) has come up with a great way that encourages businesses to get involved to help preserve the planet.

What is ‘1% for the Planet’ and what do they do?

As stated on their website, ‘1% for the Planet’ connects businesses, consumers, and non-profit organizations to work towards positive environmental change. There are more than 1,200 companies in 48 countries giving 1% of their sales to this cause. This money is then sent to more than 3,300 non-profit organizations, resulting in over 100 million dollars going towards saving our planet! This money goes towards all aspects of saving the environment, from helping to save and protect forests to getting pollution out of our oceans.

You can visit their website to see a full list of companies who are participating in giving 1% for the planet, or just look for the 1% logo before you make a purchase. It is almost impossible to avoid buying items from stores, but you do have the power to choose which companies you support. By supporting a business that is a part of 1% for the planet, you are supporting sustainability on our planet.
